PACKING LISTS FOR DIFFERENT TRAVEL OCCASIONS

On this page we first show a packing list for travelling to our Cuyabeno Lodge. But as our team members have traveled to so many countries in the world on business travel,  expeditions or regular pleasure, we decided to provide checking lists for different occasions as well. Click for downloading our packing lists for different trips.

Packing list for taking to the Cuyabeno Lodge:

  1. Binoculars (Indispensible in the rainforest - it's worth spending a bit of extra money to get a good water proof pair: 8 x 40 are excellent for poor light conditions under the forest canopy). You will find excellent waterproof binoculars for less than $200 at http://eagleoptics.com

  2. A GPS. Nowadays GPS are very affordable and it is fun to look for the equator! No you don't need one to find your way, because you will always have one of our guides with you.

  3. A water proof digital camera is ideal for the wet tropics! In 2006 the Olympus came out with one, and since several other ones have become available.

  4. Flashlight. Try one of those led lights. They are very low energy and their batteries last many times longer!

  5. Insect repellent (with DEET)

  6. Birds of Ecuador by Ridgely.

  7. Neotropical Rainforest Mammals by Emmens and Feer is complete and small enough to bring along.

  8. lightweight quick drying clothes

  9. At least one long-sleeved shirt, preferably one per day (dress shirts for men worn under a jacket are particularly suitable, because they are much thinner than T-shirts and when wet, they dry much quicker. So in spite of seeming to be overdressed, you will feel much better);

  10. One pair of loose-fitting, fast drying pants (no jeans);

  11. A light sweater (it gets surprisingly chilly in the rainforest, especially on boat trips).

  12. Swimming suit

  13. At least 1 pair of clean socks for each day

  14. Rubber boots

  15. Teva-like sandals or sneakers for around camp and in the canoe

  16. Zip lock bags

* This packing list is not exhaustive and travelers be advised to consult other sources as well.
